The Tannahill Weavers concert (May, 2010)
30/May/2010
The Tannahill Weavers concert last Saturday was a great success. The evening was opened up by our own Ferryport Fiddlers, who performed magnificently and were greatly appreciated. After the interval, another budding local star, Calum Willison, joined the band on the stage to play his bagpipes. The Tannahill Weavers performed two rousing sessions and were hauled back for an encore at the end.
This was a benefit concert on behalf of Tayport Community Trust, with the Trust getting half the ticket sales. I'd like to thank the band for their generosity and support over a number of years. Extra thanks goes to Phil Smillie, the local member of the band, who picked the raffle tickets during the interval.
There were a large number of raffle prizes and thanks to all those who donated them, in particular the Fairmont Hotel who donated a round of golf for four, DW Sports who donated two monthly memberships and Tayport Caravan Park who donated a week's stay in a caravan on the site.
Thank you should also be said to all those who made it all work; in particular the Post Office & Willison's Garage for selling the tickets, Fiona Bisset who organised the evening, Jean Massie who arranged the raffle, Carol Robertson who keeps the Gregory Hall in great shape and who tidied up after us, and those who helped out on the day.
Finally thanks to all of you who came along and were a fantastic audience. The evening made a surplus for the Trust of £732.28.
