About Tayport


Tayport is located on the east coast of Scotland in Fife, at the mouth of the river Tay. It is a historic harbour town with attractive views of the Broughty Ferry coastline and those of Tentsmuir Forest.

It is within easy commuting distance to Dundee via the Tay Road Bridge. St Andrews and Edinburgh are both popular tourist attractions being 20 and 50 minute drives to the south respectively.

Local tourist amenities include local Shops, a Caravan Park, an 18-hole golf course (Scotscraig) and large park areas.

Tayport's Auld Kirk


Unused as a church for over twenty years, this building, with its distinctive leaning clock tower, is one of the best known landmarks in the area. It has been recognised by Historic Scotland as a "B" listed building, together with its unique graveyard.

Sunday, March 28th NEXT CAR BOOT SALE - Tayport Football Club - Best come early to make sure of your spot as spaces can be limited. CONTACT NUMBER - 07951 380193. The Canniepairt, Tayport is the home of the famous Tayport Car Boot Sales.  The Car Boot Sales, which are held every second Sunday from the end of March through to September, are popular with visitors and locals alike and have been featured on TV.

In Tayport there are regular car boot sales every other Sunday during the summer months (April to October) at the Tayport Football Club grounds, from 10am to 3pm. For more info, either visit the tayportfc.org website or contact Mr Oswald on 01382-552644.


Tayport Day Centre for the elderly - Every Tuesday a group of friendly, elderly people from Tayport and Newport meet in the lounge of the Servite complex in Tayport for tea/coffee and a few games of scrabble, dominos and cards, afterwards a two course lunch is served. Transport is provided by a mobility bus, which has a life if stairs are a problem. You would be collected from your door between 9:30am and 10:30am and taken home again at 1:15pm. The cost is £5 and this includes tea/coffee, lunch and two coach outings a year. Why not come along and join in - enjoy the company. There are currently places available. Anyone interested should contact Margaret Redpath on 552981.
